For almost 60 years, Open Doors, an evangelical Christian ministry, has ministered to the persecuted church in some of the most dangerous regions in the world.
In cooperation with local Christians on the front lines of the spiritual battle, Open Doors provides Bibles, theological books, hymnals, training and other resources for believers who are persecuted for their faith. Our commitment is to go in person to our fellow believers to encourage them whenever possible. And our work is rooted and grounded in prayer.
Open Doors was founded in 1955 by a young Dutchman named Brother Andrew to encourage Christians who were suffering behind the communist Iron Curtain.
Driving a small Volkswagen Beetle, Brother Andrew smuggled shipments of Bibles and other literature across closed borders, earning him the nickname of "God's Smuggler."
Today, Open Doors helps strengthen the faith of persecuted Christians in 60 countries across Africa, East Asia, Latin America and the Muslim world. The ministry in Australia is led by Pastor Nigel.
